I grabbed a banglejs a while back for cheap embedded funzies, and it’s really stellar as a hackable companion device that you don’t use much, or at least in fairly passive or niche ways. Espruino is really cool though, and that’s the heart of the project.

There’s a certain understanding of what is and isn’t decidable by means of Computation (capital C), and it’s fundamental to the formalized systems of logic that define computers.

From what I can glean, they show that some modern theories in physics display logical properties that we know cannot arise from a formalized computational system.

To be fair, I feel like that only means the universe can’t be described by internal computation, not that some hyper-logical model of computation couldn’t exist to drive it all from “above”… It’s fundamental, so not like a higher spatial dimension, but a sort of “conceptual” one we can’t re-articulate? 50% confused and 50% talking out of my ass tbh

Yeah, I suppose the idea is that it’s always a test to see where the line is. And nobody wants it to go too far, so it ends up with everyone else letting things slide until they simply can’t anymore.

It just sucks that the bias seems to be toward letting things get worse, giving in and appeasing before change is truly made and ideals are actually enforced. It’s like it’s some natural, social song and dance that needs to play out first, and that’s just so much more messed up when it pertains to fascism and oppression.
