What a clown. It will never happen but I would love to see Brazil slapping retaliatory tariffs on American imports like China did.

That’s wishful thinking, I’m afraid. Nintendo owns the handheld market and now that they’ve made a handheld their only platform there’s no way they’re going back to traditional consoles, especially not after the original Switch sold a gazilion units with the same form-factor as the new one but with a hardware 10x weaker. The higher prices are a risky gamble but their profit margins have never been this high so they probaby don’t even care if the Switch 2 doesn’t sell nearly as much as its predecessor.

A lot of the internet has been lost to time already so I actually appreciate this place having this kind of permanence.

Yeah, it’s disappointing to know some of the things the Lemmy devs support but this being a federated platform means you don’t really have to be on Lemmy to interact with the posts and users here. Piefed and Mbin work just as well and are fully independent projects so you could try those instead.

If you think you can stop deforestation in the Amazon by not buying soybeans I have bad news for you. Not only because soybeans are grown everywhere in Brazil but also because there are multiple other reasons why deforestation happens, like illegal logging, mining and cattle raising.

Oh, I assumed that the rapture would work in a different way than regular death for some reason so maybe true believers could still go to heaven even if they’re sinners. If it’s all the same then yeah, I have no idea what their logic is either.

It makes sense if they think they’re going to hell, but that would require having a level of self-awareness I don’t believe anyone trying to actively cause the end of times can possess.
