      • this report is due by the end of the day, but do I really need to get it done? Like, would I get fired or something? I could just say that I got sick and go home. Oh actually if I wrap up this section, I can just put [forthcoming] for the references and attachments and claim that it’ll be completed next week.

When I was in school, I would wait until the last possible minute. Pull an all-nighter to hand that research paper in with all the things and pull it off but then have to crash for a day or 2 after… well, I might get drunk or high first— circa early 80’s. It was a bit harder than today as there was no internet/online resources. I had to go to the library and look shit up in these big indexes and microfiche. I lived on pepsi and doritos.

I have to remind myself to write a list and then set a reminder on my phone to check the list. Then set a timer for the easiest fastest shit to complete. and still decide that the frog can wait another day. I try to make a 3 list… 3 Things I have to do. each. day. I can’t manage more than 3 and I want to tell you… basic hygiene like bathing is included.

i have never been diagnosed but then, I grew up GenX so was just considered a daydreamer and a bit slow/absent minded. (like the stupid one).

Remembering it needs to go in, be transferred or come out is what I deal with the most.

I ended up with a system where I put my laundry bin/basket/etc. on my bed. That way, when I come or go from my room, I have the highest chance of seeing it, and it reminds me to check on it.

Now… if I could just set an alarm to get it as soon as it’s done…

I say this all the time but having adhd is litch like being fried 247. My day is almost always about as productive as my unemployed friend who does nothing but smoke weed all day.

In the late 1980s I tried crystal meth and it was like a super drug that allowed me to maintain my hyperfocus and get so much shit done. But it only lasted 48 hours. Luckily, I could not source anymore so did not chase that functionality so I did not become a “faces of meth” person. I can’t imagine what I could have achieved being appropriately medicated with a legal medication that was regulated. I might have ended up in medical school.

Um a lot of those sounds like some sort of anxiety disorder rather than ADHD?

Yeah, I got a bundle deal on processing disorders and the anxiety came as a bonus. I didn’t want to believe the depression diagnosis until I tried the antidepressant medication and saw what could have been.

not the same thing. Yes we get anxiety at times when we realize we forgot a whole bunch of shit we were supposed to do. It is like those naked dreams where you realize you are not wearing pants.

Aren’t those dreams a hint that you may have an anxiety problem?

I don’t know, personally I’ve never had one of those.
