I heard a lot of people talking shit about him starting a meme coin and that it makes him just as corrupt as Trump. And I don’t think that’s entirely unfair or unjustified, but at the same time I feel like that’s the point. If the president can do it, why can’t a governor? If it’s wrong for one then it’s wrong for the other. If it’s no big deal then it’s no big deal for either one.

If you think what he’s doing is bad then do something about it. He’s not a great person and I personally do not like him, but he’s making a good point and basically saying “come at me bro” because he wants them to fight back so he can throw it back at them.

I’m not saying that making a meme coin is right when “my guy” does it. I’m saying it should be wrong across the board and that’s the point he’s trying to make.

He’s not making a meme coin to make money. He’s making it to troll Trump. Just like his social posts.

Disliking his memecoin is missing the point. Disliking his interview with Bannon is what people should be doing.

The president shouldn’t do that, the governor shouldn’t do that, this only normalizes Trump. He’s not making a good point, he’s doing a self serving grift disguised as resistance.

And what does helping a grift do to stop that? Who will magically be won over by this? Will this ever make up for the leftists and progressives alienated, or are y’all just hoping we get properly purged by Trump?

One thing is certain: I definitely don’t belong anywhere in America, not because of Trump, but because of the Democrats.

I see your point, but it’s already normalized. The president already had a meeting with crypto bros that paid into his meme coin at the Whitehouse basically saying “hey, come bribe me. America is for sale.” We’re way past the point of no return and playing by the rules simply doesn’t work anymore when the president is breaking the law on a daily basis.

So it becomes normalized on liberal side? Sure. What a great way to cede the future to feudalism. I really shouldn’t be surprised at this point.

The point I’m trying to make is that you absolutely should be pissed at him and the left if they do this. The point is to be pissed at any politician that does this. The fact that he can even do it is not his fault it’s Trumps. He has literally said, when questioned about this kinda stuff, something along the lines of “if it’s wrong for me to act this way, why can the president?”

I’m afraid this is what it will take. The right gets away with so much of their deplorable behavior because it’s reprehensible and the left for the most part is above that. But that’s Clinton’s line of “they go low, we go high”. It’s not fucking working. I just hope if people on the left do start to dip their toes into some of this deplorable shit, it’s much more calculated to not hurt innocent people and they stop once the right has been crippled by their very own tactics.

I think the difference in this case is that this is a self-serving action. Trump breaks the law or violates the Constitution to benefit himself and his cronies, but if, for example, Joe Biden broke the law to cancel a bunch if student loan debt, I would support that. I dont support what Newsom is doing here. He’s doing the very garbage that has cost Democrats the presidency twice now and will continue to cost them elections in the future.

Which I think is the point. The point is that you are supposed to be upset because it’s an objectively garbage thing to do. And if it is, why is the president allowed to do it?

I wouldn’t follow this man into battle, but so far he’s the only one that has enough balls to call out his bullshit like this. 80% of the politicians in this country are spineless and just waiting for it all to blow over. I’d rather see “fuck you” energy over being passive any day of the week.

If you say Newsom is bizzar then you admit Trump is bizzar. Thats the whole point. Holy cow yall are dense.

What’s bizzaro is you have a president that is making 2028 hats and showing them to world leaders.

Why do you think calling Trump bizarre is some epic own? He’s a weirdo and that’s genuinely part of his appeal to MAGA.

All this does is help a fascist reject grift from desperate liberal boomers who are smart enough to dislike Trump, but dumb enough to think this will do anything positive.

accomplishes nothing while confusing low-information voters who don’t understand he’s satirizing the president.

“low information voter” is a term that clues me in that the author isn’t worth reading. Almost as bad as the term “woke”. The first time I ever heard the phrase was Rush Limbaugh and he was explicitly referring to black voters supporting Democrats.

And while I’m sure a non-racist might use it in a sentence. It’s still the anti-democratic ideal that some people should be excluded from voting.

If you think that suffrage belongs only to the “deserving”, instead of the universal right of everyone subject to political leadership, then you don’t believe in democracy.

The label “low information voter” does not imply they should be excluded. It just recognizes they’re uninformed. Which is important if we’re to do anything about it.

The one thing I am learning from this is that media, to a certain extent, treats Newsom’s silly Trump-mimicking similar to how they do with Trump’s antics.

The gizmodo article here being the exception rather than the rule. Most articles engage and report on this quite shallowly, more talking about what is said and done, rather than the broader picture of what they are doing and why.

It’s bad that they do this, and Walz is way better at trolling than Newsom, but the silver lining benefit is that Newsom doing this sucks the airtime away from Trump’s attention-seeking or distraction stunts.
