What happened in 2016 was legitimately fucked up. Bernie was primaried in many key states and his debate performance was excellent. Media completely neglected to mention him and DNC buried him in favor of their pick.

Yes, because if we weren’t captured by a single-party corporate system we wouldn’t be in this mess. Reactionary fascism arises from the material immiseration of the people. If the Democrats were beholden to improving the lives of citizens rather than clinging to power and corporate interests, we would not be in this mess.

I feel that, for a lot of folks, he was the last candidate that promised an actual brighter future to believe in. It’s a shame corporate donors pushed him out of the race, as it left a lot of folks feeling that their voices would never be heard. I think it’s even fair to say that his dismissal by the Democrat party directly led to the voter resentment that helped Trump win the elections.

Absolutely did. A TON of Bernie bros would go on to vote for Trump, and Trump ran on a platform of “establishment bad,” so having his opponent be the MOST establishment option, who just won their primary through interference by the establishment could not have been better. Not to mention that the Hillary campaign and DNC SUPPORTED Trump’s run until he won the primary

The DNC literally admitted to braking it own rules and cheating for Hillary in court.

Your bullshit here that Bernie couldn’t win the primary so he wouldn’t win the general is post-hic rationalization of the DNC being an undemocratic institution and justifying their theft of the party.

Without addressing that theft, no primary in the world will fix this.

Them saying that they are a private institution and make their own rules isn’t quite saying what Trump and co told you it meant.

It was the easiest legal argument to make.

A private organization until it is time for federal funding.

Fuck off, pathetic defender of oligarchy.

Edit: If the corruption of the DNC was purely an invention of Trump, DWS wouldn’t have lost her position and DB wouldn’t have lost her job.

You call it cheating because Trump and co told you it was.

The WikiLeaks documents didn’t prove anything Bernie himself realized he lost on Jun 24th and stepped down to endorse Clinton.

Why do you want to keep rehashing right wing propaganda about a 10 year old primary?

Ah, but we must move on from that as well. The important stuff to pay attention to will only begin in 2032. Nothing until then matters.

This is what makes me lose hope in democracy.

Bernie had no chance of winning a general election when he couldn’t even win a primary that’s why Trump wanted to run against him all three times and now there’s people comparing that with ICE occupying a city and murdering American citizens.

He did not lose the primary by democratic means, but by Democratic means. His primary performance cannot be used to gauge his performance in the general.

However, I agree that there’s no point complaining about the corporate Democrats using their power to win. The thing for people who believed in Bernie to do is to get power, and use it to defeat the corporate Democrats.

              You have it ass-backwards.

Losing faith in democracy would be acknowledging that the amount of huge money and influence took power out of voters hands, choosing Hilary for them. You’re arguing that people shouldn’t vote for the candidate they support because of a system inherently lacking in actual democratic power. You’re supporting something that isn’t inherently democratic.

You’re right that he would have lost if he somehow won the primary. Both the Democrats and Republicans would oppose him, which is impossible to endure, unless Bernie could enact a Trump-style takeover. And the superdelegates thing among others makes that rather unlikely.

So instead we get good cop bad cop in our elections, and a corporate puppet becomes President no matter what. Which is why I like to vote third party. Giving a vote that makes me an enemy of the entire country is too much fun to pass up.
