Spain has closed its airspace to U.S. planes involved in the Iran war, Defense Minister Margarita Robles said Monday, marking another step in the country’s opposition to the U.S. and Israel’s conflict in the Middle East.

Spain had already said the U.S. could not use jointly operated military bases in the Iran conflict, which Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has described as illegal, reckless and unjust.

Defense Minister Robles said Monday the same logic applied to the use of Spanish airspace in the conflict.

Damn. Spain knows how to do it.

    1. Refused to comply with increasing the defence budget,
    2. refused to share the airfields with US Airforce, and
    3. refuses to let US Airforce use their airspace.

“But if NATO is just about us defending Europe if they’re attacked, but then denying us basing rights when we need them, that’s not a very good arrangement,” Rubio told Al Jazeera on Monday. “That’s a hard one to stay engaged in and say this is good for the United States. So all of that is going to have to be reexamined.”

True story: When France did that during the Iraq War, the Congressional Cafeteria changed the name of French Fries to Freedom Fries.

So I guess we’ll be seeing Freedom Rice in the cafeteria.

I mean why would you allow what amounts to an enemy to use your air space for their war against someone else?

Right!? This is a telling moment for countries.

People hate on Iran but do they really know what it’s like to get shit on? It’s the word of privileged assholes vs the word of the people their culture took a massive shit on.

I can’t say I know much about irans history though.

Their message of One Vengeance For All is righteous.

This morning I was thinking of a metaphor. America is like the school shooter, regular citizens are like the victims, and Iran is like the the person that plugs the shooter. The countries that aren’t doing anything towards Israel and USA are like the uvalde police.

No one is shitting on the Iranian people, though. It’s the government they’re shitting on.

It’s like how we can shit on the Israeli government without shitting on Jews.

Idk I feel like western culture shits on humanity in general. Like it’s engrained in the culture and lifestyles but everyone is too privileged to even understand.

If people actually want change, it’s something bigger than simply the governments.

It’s not just the right, maga, and trump that are the enemies of humanity etc… it’s our lifestyles and culture of arrogance. People need to take a long hard look and see themselves in the chaos and how they help support it.

It feels like genuine humanity is being lost more and more every day. There’s no authenticity. It’s like everyone is less human and more just a cog in the machine that ruins the gift of life. Like there’s no soul in people, just a spirit of consumerism and partnership of detachment from honest reality. I feel like that culture is like the zombies in the zombie movies. They are dead inside simply consuming and funding a fake world.

It’s definitely not just western culture. It’s because humans are fundamentally tribalistic animals.

That’s why it’s so easy for evil people to gain power. They prey on that tribalism.

Iran is like the the person that plugs the shooter.

Yeah, but he also rapes his infant daughter and murdered his son because he was gay

“War on Terror” sounded pretty righteous too. I’m glad you noted you haven’t read much on Iran. Please do at least catch up on the last 50 years or so. It’s a fascinating tale involving western meddling, a dynamic and multifaceted people/culture, and a genuinely oppressive regime that funds many regional militant groups.

Who would have thought alienating your allies then starting a war without consulting your allies would result in your allies not wanting to get dragged into said war.

Fascinating stuff, write that down. We might want to study this “don’t be a dick and blindside your allies” concept later.

Has nothing to do with that, the rest of the west simply can’t do nothing about Iran militarly and is assisting the usa with non comabative actions like providing inteligence, uk allowing the use of it’s bases, implementing more sanctions on Iran to make it harder for iran to defend itself

The rest of the west seems to be more like “WTF are you doing?” regarding the attack on Iran. There was little perceptible build up or any information disseminated about the attacks; just all of a sudden we were attacking Iran and it was very unclear why.

Now that some time has passed, it seems clear that the attack was more of a stunt than a mission, with any correlation between the attack and any grievances we may have with them being mostly a coincidence. It still seems to many of us in the USA that the president up and decided to attack a nation at random for no reason, then came up with a rationale for that baseless action afterwards.

Many of us have a number of pretty good ideas of what the actual reasons for the attack might have been, but none of them are those being stated, nor do they have to do with any nuclear armament they may or may not be doing.

Good but don’t get fooled by politicians, USA and israel bombed a school on day 1, they waited till now to close airspace. The government is probably just trying to save their ass as most people in europe are pissed with the conflict.
