the FTC alleged that OkCupid gave an unauthorized third party access to the personal data of millions of OkCupid users in violation of its privacy policies.

Lmfao for that, and NOT charging to message bots created specifically to pull money out of male users?

I think this doesn’t go far enough. The problem isn’t just okcupid, problem is the data. Any company they sold face data to should be required to delete it, it should be treated as receiving stolen property that must be returned. The users of the site did not consent to have their faces shared with the database companies, so the only true redress for the users is to get those faces out of the database.

Honestly it’s nice to see the government doing things like prosecute corporations for violating people’s rights.

Are these companies run by Democrats or something?

Maybe someone can use these as precedent to go after that app. But that app needs to be addressed quickly, because from what I understand, the app is mainly targeting the people who are required to use it. Journalists.

If the app disappears from public app stores and is required to be sideloaded, you’ll know they are trying to keep it from people who will take it apart like this guy did.

I could swear I read this exact comment on another thread about the recent Whitehouse app. Wrong post?

That link I posted is about the Whitehouse app and all of the government apps, so maybe they were commenting on it when it was posted yesterday.

Probably started under Lina Khan and then used as an extortion by the current pedo regime. When they refused to give out bribes and public fellatio, they filed the complaint. Probably end up being a drop in the bucket of a fine, we don’t actually hold corporations accountable in this country.
