It is being called “cv dazzle” to defeat facial recognition like that used by Facebook.
I’m wondering if anyone has experience using this in protest, or if you’ve heard local coverage about it?
Wear a full face motorbike helmet? It has the bonus feature of protecting against beatings.
It’s been a thing for a long time, probably hasn’t been used more because masks are easier. It’s so rare though that it makes you stand out as being one of the only people using it. Which really defeats the purpose.
Crazy solutions just make you stand out. A basic mask is much better.
That’s why the Porshe guys in California made it a club. One guy with a 00O00O license plate is easy to track down. A few dozen variations on the same make and model car make it a lot more of a mess.
Yeah the prosecution doesn’t have to prove one of you did it, they have to prove who all was complicit and that can be very difficult
I just saw someone with an all I and a 1 plate. I mentioned the xkcd to my wife, but glat to have the reference handy now.
You can make a mesh mask out of hi-vis reflective material. So people can see you but anything that relies on shining light at you to get a clear picture will just blow out and be pure “white” to Its optics.
If you read the page you linked it says it defeated an old algorithm that’s no longer used.
Cool, do you have any experience with facial recognition/avoidance or local coverage to share?
Not the original commenter, but basically covering your face is all you really need. If you’re worried about being tracked/identified your phone is the biggest threat.
Adversarial patterns are a thing. Joker gang from Batman beyond used clown make up to get past facial recognition. Juggalo make up works/worked for a while to my knowledge.
No not true. Batman was fiction by the way
So are juggalos. Michigan is just a lie we tell so ohioans behave
BATMAN IS FICTION?!
WW2 navies have entered the chat
I was thinking about making a mask which is just a big QR code.
I heard Juggalo makeup works the same way, woop woop
Semi-related, I recall seeing a YouTube video a long time ago about a guy seeing if attaching bright IR lights to a glasses frame could obscure their face from cameras while not being noticeable to people - apart from wearing a glasses frame with small light bulbs attached.
I wonder if that’s gone anywhere.
Check out the Camera-Shy Hoodie .
I’ll try to find the link for the glasses (they’re a bit pricey though). You can always make your own. More info:

EDIT: IDK if this is what you’re referring to, they’re called Reflectacles
