Do you expect to see a certain conspiracy theory confirmed? Do you expect to see some technology revealed? Do you expect to see the colonisation of space or something? What do you think will happen after?
The universe is so vast that it is statistically unlikely that this planet is the only inhabited one. But therein lies the problem: The vastness makes it impossible for us to confirm anything or even observe traces of hints.
We are alone in the universe. And the aliens, they are alone too.
It’s weirdly beautiful in a melancholy way. I imagine most intelligent species are at least somewhat social, and they have an intrinsic desire to seek fellowship with others. I also imagine most would possess curiosity in order to seek out something other than themselves. So there’s this chorus of unheard voices calling up into the void “is anyone there? We’re over here. Hello? Anyone?”

My impression of the internet for the past 20 years.
even if they were here, the ability to communicate would be like us trying to talk to ants.
The vastness also makes it much harder for aliens to find Earth. The most likely reason for us to find aliens visiting Earth is if Earth was originally seeded life by those aliens.
Even then it would be most likely seeded by a probe from so distant that they’d never be able to travel here. Think Voyager probe, but maybe faster. If we’d sent one with a bio seed package and sent it right at the best life supporting planet we could find it’s still gonna be 10s or 100s of thousands of years before it even arrives, then a couple hundred million years for anything to evolve there.
It would be sorta hilarious if we were a distant science experiment though.
Agreed
It is not statistically unlikely that this planet is the only inhabited one. We do not know at all how likely it is for life to develop. Therefore, we cannot make any statistical statements about its occurrence. All we have are estimates based on arbitrary assumptions.
Ultimately, whether one assumes the existence of aliens is a question of faith, not statistics.
Everyday we don’t find them they get further away too fyi
that assumes our current understanding of physiscs is the absolute truth.
nothing to say aliens could not travel here somehow. well, except for our current knowledge.
My wife just watched that disclosure 2025 movie. I dunno.
I’m kinda with John Michael Godier on this one:
Any species capable of trivializing the distance between us and them would also find it comically easy to remain completely undetected.
If they were here and wanted us to know, we’d know. They’re not going to play ‘just the tip’ with us and be cryptic or hard to get.
I am extraordinarily skeptical that they’d come all this way and bungle the covert surveillance this bad.
we would be ants in an ant farm to them.
I’ll twist your question a bit. When I get asked “is there such thing as ghosts” I used to say no absolutely not, no evidence. However, as I’ve grown I’ve changed my answer to “I don’t know”. I think conventional ghosts as people see them could be anything, we have used superstition to explain the unknown before. How can we possibly know that there are or not, with other dimensions, space time, and general weirdness we just don’t understand. To be blunt we understand so little that who knows.
I apply the same to aliens. Very well could be here, and very well could know how to hide themselves. There’s zero evidence of it so we shouldn’t adopt policy assuming that or anything, that would be insane, but with vast amounts of unknowable, well how can I say no?
I mean.
That’s how science works.
We don’t say that is impossible. We say we have no evidence that that is possible.
a lot of it can be explained by human psychology and physiological triggers for those psychological events.
“Are they hot?”
“Look at the heck as in that hewzimek”
“Oh yeah, suck my jargon, yeah. Oh now I’m going to suck your jagon. Oh my god yeeeeaahh”
I want to mess around with a three titty alien!
Visit Eroticon 6, ask for Eccentrica.

Death by snoo snoo!
Wouldn’t it be snoo snoo snoo?
Ah a scientist is among us
I don’t believe aliens have been to earth so there’s nothing to cover up. I’m personally pessimistic that we’ll ever encounter alien life, intelligent or not. The universe is so vast and the time scale so deep that there’s certainly something else out there but the odds of us running into one another are next to impossible.
But I like to think that somewhere out there there’s another species just as alone as we are, howling into the void. And I wonder what would happen if we did finally meet, if they found us after groping around in the darkness for who knows how long and rather than attacking us or lecturing us they just rejoiced that they weren’t alone anymore. And we’d ask them about the vast galaxy-spanning metacivilization of countless other sophonts that most sci-fi seems to take for granted and they’d shrug and say “Nope it’s just you and us, lonely together.”
I’m not arrogant enough to think we are the only intelligent life out there, but at the same time, Earth is kind of at the ass end of space, so I also can’t believe that any species capable of getting all the way out here would find anything remotely interesting here.
Just saw a show where aliens went to hotel on earth specifically because it was ass end of space for a clandestine meeting.
Earth no better place to cheat on your spouse!
While I agree that the universe is too vast for any species to meet another one, I secretly hope that if we do it will unite us.
That humanity will realize we are the same species, stop fighting and ruining our world to go fight them and ruin their world (cause that’s what we do and love).
Also that we will react with the golden retriever mindset of two existential questions:
- Can I eat this?
- Can I fuck this?
We are space orcs
You’ll have to fight me for the privilege of fighting the aliens for their resources. If I can’t have them, no one will!
I’m glad to announce that you’ve been promoted to 1st line starship space marines troopers.
Make us proud, for Earth and controlled democracy.
Go purge those filthy xenos!
World Peace ✌️
I hope they’re so much smarter than us that our brains aren’t even capable of understanding their thought. Like a chimpanzee compared to a human. I hope they’re benevolent and take pity on us like how I spoil my rescue dog. With how cruel we are to each other , we can’t be that smart
I mean, if history is any guide they’ll either wipe us all out with superior technology, enslave us, or some space disease will kill us all. Regardless, I’d anticipate it going poorly for humanity
I hope they take me back to my home planet
I think the scariest thing to people would be to find out that aliens have known about us for a very long time, but just see us as pests and ignore us until.we start getting into the intergalactic grain storage. Then they send the equivalent of an exterminator to get rid of us. I think that would break a lot of people.
I forget where I saw this comment, but once in a while I think about it and chuckle.
Can you imagine finding planet Earth and wonder why all their nukes are pointed at themselves?
I think that a lot of people are gonna feel dissapointed if any info is revealed. The fantasy tends to be jucier than the reality. I too would like to clap that blue alien from mass effect but it aint gonna happen ;_;
if aliens were real, i’d hope they have really cool non-warfare technology that we can steal. hopefully they haven’t invented space copyright or trademark equivalents.
