LOS ANGELES - A newly introduced bill in the California Legislature aims to block former federal immigration agents from transitioning into local public service roles.
The bill would permanently disqualify anyone who worked for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) between Sept. 1, 2025, and Jan. 20, 2029, from holding jobs in California law enforcement or public education.

Under Calder v. Bull, only criminal ex post facto laws are forbidden, so this probably would be Constitutional.
why not ban them from all jobs in cali, if you have been involved in “illegal ice operations”. leo is a good start, since its likely the “brownshirts” will try to get a LEO job. THESE ARE most likely unhirables anyways, they will only get jobs in red states, contain them there instead.
Because they can’t really block them from all jobs as most jobs are private institutions. But they can as a state block them from public service jobs which they fund.
The reason they’re becoming ICE Apes is because no police department will take them. We’ve seen the poor quality of people that police departments tend to hire, so you’d have to be pretty awful for them to reject you.
I doubt that coming back later and saying “You guys rejected me last time, but now I have ICE experience, so surely you’ll take me now,” is going to work. They’re more likely to view you as a walking, flashing civil lawsuit.
A good start. However, ICE gestapo should be outright executed. They are not the kind of people who should be allowed to live by anyone, because their base instinct is to hurt people for pleasure.

I agree, they are straight up terrorists. But just banning them from schools, is really a shallow solution which doesn’t solve the issue. It may be a start, but the fact is, everyone may be a victim of their bloodthirst.
This is actually… a good idea. A lot of these people are def power hungry and more than willing to defend pedophiles in power, def probably have tendencies to take advantage of the weak and desperate/vulnerable. YEAH I can get behind a bill like this.
Now I’m waiting for the US supreme Court to twist this into a free speech ruling that simultaneously overturns gay marriage and gives former ice military-like hiring preference.

They should be barred from all government-paid roles, including contractors and subcontractors.

Not to be that guy, but I can’t see this ever holding up or getting approved in the first place. As of now there is no way to discriminate based on previous occupation. The only legal grounds for job discrimination currently in California is based on being a sexual predator or violent felon. Even regular felons are allowed to be teachers. Not sure it’s a good idea to go down the path of allowing job discrimination based on what your previous job was, particularly when it’s a completely legal occupation.
I had the same thought. I was thinking, maybe it would have a stronger chance if only ICE experience was considered like an employment gap for all Cali based employers. So, people can’t opportunistically get their foot into the door of a larger career via ICEs cheap recruitment/ vetting tactics.

Agreed, but the GOP’s ICE Gestapo doesn’t give a fuck about the legality of their actions. It’s time to put some serious roadblocks in their way and force them to fight it out in the courts with the Due Process they routinely deny everyone else. At the very least it should send a chill up their spines.

Good. Give these thugs real consequences for their actions. Want to work for ICE, attack and murder your neighbors, and terrorize your community? Good luck getting the job you might have wanted for the rest of your life.
Personally, I think this should be taken further. Ban them from every single job the state of California hires for in any department. Revoke some tax benefits for businesses that hire former ICE agents. Do everything legally possible to make becoming an ICE officer into an economic death blow that will make it impossibly hard to find employment after.
