The decision does not affect all of Trump’s tariffs but invalidates those implemented using an emergency law.
Delivering a major blow to President Donald Trump, the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that he exceeded his authority when imposing sweeping tariffs using a law reserved for a national emergency.
The justices, divided 6-3 held that Trump’s aggressive approach to tariffs on products entering the United States from across the world was not permitted under a 1977 law called the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Cool. Will we get our fucking money back? Don’t worry, I already know the answer to that.
Oh somebody will get money back. Just not the consumer. I almost wonder if this wasn’t the plan all along. All that money will be refunded to the company that “paid” them as they passed the costs on to the consumer. And don’t think for a second that prices for anything will return to pre-tariff levels. Also makes you wonder if that was also by design.
A trump never pays his debts
Nope, Howard lutnick’s kid will though.
Yes, but it has been accepted as your contribution to the Board of Peace. Thank you for your donation.
It’s almost as big a joke as The Human Fund.
At least The Human Fund didn’t actually have George stealing from anyone, it was just him being a jerk. When Mr. Kruger gave him that big check he at least somewhat came clean it was fake. The president taking tax money for his League of Villians is just outright theft like if George would have cashed the check and called the accountant a liar.
He was in the process of his considerations when Kruger calls him into the office to inform him that accounting noticed that the human fund doesn’t exist. George just didn’t have enough time before getting caught to adequately convince himself to cash it.
Lol, you are correct, I just rewatched it. He was debating with Jerry at the dinner about turning it into a “real charity” which quickly devolved into people showering him with praise in order show worthiness of his “generosity” (jeez, this is sounding like how I imagine the Board of Peace will operate…). When Kruger calls him in, he still chickens out and gives the money back unprompted and plays the victim of religious persecution for his father’s celebrating of Festivus instead of Christmas.
I don’t know if George would have went through with it, because his cowardice, paranoia, and desire to not actually do anything likely would have won out, so I still think he’s less evil as he at least somewhat confesses to being a fraud and he returns the money without a fuss, which doesn’t seem like the behavior of a FIFA Peace Prize winner.
Businesses will get refunds, but not any of the consumers who paid higher prices for the tariffed goods.
I doubt we’re likely to see many prices come back down from their tariff-inflated values either.
Like I said, I knew the answer already.
In very select circumstances, possibly. I got a refund check from DHS/CBP/whoever a while back for some random thing I imported (which turned out to come from Germany, which I only discovered after I bought it…) for which I got tariffed personally. I presume after that particular tariff was retracted and/or struck down.
For the vast majority of consumers buying stuff off the shelf from retailers and vendors who jacked their prices up to compensate for said tariffs, no. Absolutely not. I predict said prices will remain jacked up for the foreseeable future as well, since retailer pricing policies are completely opaque to the consumer, and also notoriously ratchet-like — they tend to only move in one direction.
If you’re a business owner, sure! If you’re a customer, fuck off.
Sincerely, Trump
AaaaaaaaaAlnd he doubles down on more other illegal tarrifs 🙄🙄🙄not one repercussion was had.
Good. The only blow that guy deserves is the one he gives to all the people of the world. Enjoy, you broken throat fuck.
His own arguments about the tariffs outside of the court defeated his lawyers case completely. Orang turd should learn to keep his mouth shut now that the SC has turned on him and a growing number of Republicans are turning away even the ones not retiring.

Dumbfuck has always been a narcissist with no clue when to shut the fuck up the moment he has a position of power over others.
His obvious dementia makes it worse than ever. When the big beautiful day finally comes, we might end up in more danger. Vance isn’t as stupid as Trump is.
We paid the tariffs and now companies can sue to double their profits. Capitalism!
And guess who is gonna pay those settlements? Yes, the tax payers.
I bet he reinstitutes them under the BISSo doctrine (Because I Said So). Why not? He routinely ignores the courts
That’s basically what he just said he’s going to do. Fucking wild.
Well people and businesses just love to invest in banana republics where the dear leader can change laws every 5 minutes for whatever thing he is just angry about.
“I hereby order…”
– Pedonald, after watching The Office, probably
And the stock market did rejoice. This is all a ball and shell game for us when they know where the ball is.
Dow is still under 50,000
Sweet! Under that condition, the Trump-Epstein files matter again!
Yeah, I had the same thought after seeing how the DJIA reacted. A small number of people are going to make a nice bit of money from this. I wonder who. 🤔
Lutnick for one, he’s reportedly been buying up refund rights through one of his companies.
I believe I speak for most Americans: Fuck you and your tariffs, you fucking fuck!
Tariffs are highly unpopular. They are actually doing him a favor.
This was my thought as well. Perhaps the best way to step back from tariffs without looking like chickening out, and about the right time for campaign season to ramp up.
If his admin has any sense of strategy, they’ll take the out and then brag about price reductions in summer.
My belief has been they had to totally screw up 2025 to make people feel like 2026 would be getting better. I anticipate too many folks will just see year to year improvement and not reflect on why 2025 was a particularly rough year.
He just fucked it up and is using a different law to impose tariffs
Inasmuch as Delicate Feelings Donnie immediately hit back with calling the majority justices “fools and dogs” and swearing he was going to find another way to do it regardless, it’s clear he personally sees it as a major blow.
But yes, overall, in terms of popularity they removed another rotting albatross from around his neck, unfortunately.
He’s going to need a big distraction for this and all his child rape records at the state of the union next week. Should be a fun weekend /s
That’s where the ‘release government files about extraterrestrials’ comes in. But that’s small fries. He’ll need to go a lot bigger than that with the distractions.
LOL SCOTUS will be seated feet from him in the front row. That being said I’d wager he’ll invade Iran after US markets close today.
Edit: possibly at this 12:45 Press Conference he just announced.
Now that would be a hell of a distraction!

Well that’s a little bit of progress
