Finally, hardware is powerful enough that even Gamefreak can make a decent looking 3d game!
In all seriousness though, it looks pretty nice. Looking forward to the return of diving. South-east Asia is an interesting setting for a new region. I have a feeling IGN isn’t going to like it though…
Lol
IGN reviewer walks in.
Pkmn Waves: chuckle I’m in danger
Huh, so they’re actually going to wait a year. I honestly expected them to push a Pokemon game ASAP for the Switch 2, but I guess it’s better that they take their time than release a mess like Scarlet & Violet.
They have to make time to finish that Sekiro-like.
Legends Z-A was the title for the switch 2. I mean, Scarlet and Violet was clearly supposed to be the switch 2 title (its obvious they developed the game for that hardware) but they needed to rush it to get their one game a year quota.
What was wrong with scarlet and violet? I enjoyed them, but they were my first Pokemon game since the Gameboy SP.
Borderline broken on release, terrible framerate & graphics on Switch 1. Did you play them on Switch 2 by any chance?
Nope, I played it on the switch lite and didn’t have issues with framerate and graphics, but I didn’t buy it on release.
Why design routes when “open world”? PS2 ass graphics. Horrible frame rate and performance. Unnecessary number of shops with no life at all. Because “you can take the challenges in any order” none of them have any actual interest or difficulty. First main line pokemon game I ever DNF’d.
Dnf ? Fedora ?
Did not finish
As someone who hasn’t played a pokemon game since Gen 3, what are they like these days? Have they totally jumped the shark?
Terrible. They are terrible today. The last game pair they put out was an absolute joke in every regard.
I recommend never giving them another penny.
Sounds good, I’ll continue to emulate Soul Silver and Emerald on my phone 😁
HGSS is peak Pokémon.
DS generations are probably the last ones worth playing - although hard to emulate on a phone with comfortable controls, I’d imagine.
I think I tried Platinum for a bit but yeah it was too cumbersome to play on my phone.
It definitely depends on how much they incorporate improvements from Legends: Arceus (one of the side games). Gens 6 - 8 were all so easy that a popular way to play each of those is with a difficulty mod, if you are able.
Gen 9 tried to mix it up a bit, but as another user mentioned the performance on the Switch was so poor that it was hard to enjoy.
Legends: Arceus has introduced several quality of life features that could be game changing if they make it into Winds & Waves, but we shall see. This could be the most fun mainline gen, if they do it right, or they could fumble it again.
Arceus turned the whole game into pokemon snap with balls. Or the safari zone. It wasn’t good, unless you like playing pokemon games to catch every pokemon as fast as possible
Not only that, Arceus is terribly empty
I meant to say Z-A. My bad. Arceus didn’t really hold my attention, likely for the reason you mention.
I’ve played every main-line and reboot pokemon game since they came out. I didn’t finish Scarlet and Violet, it was so bad, also didn’t finish Legends Arceus cause it was so lazy, and I’ve never played Legends Z-A. They’ve stopped putting in any amount of effort, so why should I bother to play them?
Let’s see what kind of unbelievable powecreep they come up with to upstage Urshifu and the horses.
