I think this is a defense mechanism on your part. It’s hard to deal with this, that so many people are so badly removed from reality that they cannot see these simple, important facts. Oddly, I don’t have a lot of empathy for people who support a guy who has promised to destroy anyone who opposes him. There are only 4 basic reasons to support Trump: you’re really stupid, you’re really hateful, you’re a Christian fundamentalist (heavily overlaps with “hateful”), or you’re really rich. Usually it’s a combination of those things.
The guy was president for 4 years and showed exactly who he was. You don’t get to use the “Oh, they’re just misguided souls” excuse any more.

For comparison, this is how Trump used to talk, back in the 2016 RNC debate.
He’s always been an obnoxious and crass New Yorker, never what you’d call an intellectual or academic. But he used to stay on topic, finish sentences, make coherent points, and generally function. Now he’s reduced to somehow shouting and mumbling at the same time, confusing names and years, connecting vague concepts together until he gets applause from the audience.
This is why fumbling is such a bad argument. People aren’t listening to the overall message. They are just tone fucking each syllable now as the only problem between these two and that’s a real problem
The problem with Biden was he should step down for someone else and the concern of that is pivoting this late can be bad for dems.

Yeah, I think that the media is reaching to show that Trump is also unfit after they spent so freaking out about the Biden debate.
The problem is that Trump is unfit for very different reasons than Biden is unfit.
Trump had some run-on sentences in those clips, and a lot of what he was saying was either false or terrible policy, but I understood every point that he was ineloquently making, even if I thought they were bad points.
Biden’s debate performance, on the other hand, had several moments where I don’t know what he was trying to say.
Trump in these clips changed topics within the scope of the larger argument that he was making: “America is broken and only I can fix it”. I disagree with his argument and several underlying pieces of evidence. He wandered between very different points without clearly transitioning. In spite of that, he was still coherent and I could immediately understand what he was saying.
Biden answered a question about abortion by talking about how Trump thinks illegal immigrants kill little girls, allowing Trump to segue to that topic and not address overturning Roe V Wade. Several times in that debate, I didn’t know what point Biden was trying to argue.
I will vote for Joe, but pretending that Trump’s mental state has deteriorated to the same level as Biden’s is clearly a delusion. Trump had less mental acuity to lose, but it’s still there and still lying and rambling and meandering around a given theme, saying everything and anything to support it regardless of if it makes sense. Biden can’t seem to remember what he was talking about after a few seconds.
If you want to focus on Trump’s lack of fitness, this is the wrong way to do it. It’s entirely being framed around the ways that Biden is unfit. Within that framing, Biden always looks worse. Trump is unfit for other reasons, and we should focus on those until we have a candidate running against him with a bit more mental acuity.
The fumbles are similar to what people have been upset about in the debate. Probably there are more important things to focus on, such as policy and competency.

Work is inherently ableist. There are many many medical conditions that would stop someone from being an effective president, including dementia and aphasias. You could say it’s ableist to allow a person who can’t consent (not being in their right mind), to do as dangerous of a job and as taxing of a job as president.
And being able to communicate is pretty critical lol, regardless if you agree or not. A speech impediment is fine if it doesn’t impact communication, but yes it’s an issue if you can’t understand them at all, unless they could perhaps sign (as in sign language). Communication isn’t about speaking perfectly, it’s about understanding your thoughts and getting others to see your point of view. Biden is not able to do either as he’s switching names entirely, eg VP Trump and President Putin snafus.

I would say this is because Trump’s potential voterbase doesn’t give a damn about having a competent, sane candidate. Biden’s potential voterbase has significantly higher standards. It’s easy to point out that there could theoretically be a better-performing candidate than Biden, but I don’t think it’s so easy to find someone that will get more conservative voter engagement than Trump.
