At least one donor who attended the event and listened to Mr. Schiff’s remarks said he left dejected, believing that Mr. Biden’s chances of winning were now slim and that they should concentrate giving their time and money to downballot candidates in the hopes of salvaging something for the party.

I wonder how many prospective/Democrat candidates the party starved for funding and soundbytes that actually dropped out or stepped aside?

in the hopes of salvaging something for the party.

one would hope that salvaging something for the fucking country is what should be first on their minds.

i understand the sentence is second party reinterpretation, but it is still funny. or sad. or something.

This isn’t like other elections in the past. But at the same time there is no clear full proof solution for another person to take the wheels. They should do whatever it takes to make sure Trump and Trumpism is defeated long term.

Trump is only a symptom of a dysfunctional system. Whether it goes by the name of trump or it goes by the name of something completely different, there will always be a boogeyman to scare voters for them to remain in power. Democrats will provide a boogeyman for their supporters and Republicans will provide a boogeyman for their supporters. All in an effort for the duopoly to stay in power, and keep any outside threads at bay

        Aaaaaand you get downvoted.

People don’t actually realize why there’s so much support for Trump. A lot of the public is tired of the gasligjting, bullshit, and lies that establishment politics has brought them for the last ~70 years.

Yes and Trump would (and already has) brought far more of that than we’ve ever had to stomach before. Your point is straight out of 2016, wake the fuck up.

I didn’t say that Trump didn’t also do that. The guy is outside of establishment politics even if just based on his mannerisms. Trump voters aren’t the most rational people lol.

A lot of it is just people tired of politicians playing the politics game. Like Biden is basically minmaxing talking about his own good achieviments because he’s scared to loose the centrist vote, and that rightfully makes more left leaning people kind of queasy, me included. It effectively discounts the stuff he’s done.

Edit: AND it discounts his own voting base by turning them into numbers. but that’s the two party system for ya. Trump doesn’t really ever worry about that.

Blue maga seems like such a hard sell. Like, I get regular maga, Trump is an asshole, but he’s got personality, he’s entertaining, he’s got all the things you’d need to be a cult leader effectively. Whereas Biden is basically the opposite of Trump personality wise.

It was a dumb epithet. Until Biden supporters started attacking the fake news media, pushing misinformation, and attacking true blue Democrats for speaking out against the dear leader. Then it became uncomfortably descriptive. When you’re attacking Pod Save America for not being good Democrats you’ve lost the plot completely.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Mr. Schiff, who has been among Mr. Trump’s most outspoken critics, said at the fund-raiser that Mr. Biden and his campaign staff had been generally unwilling to engage the views of outside pollsters and political experts and urged them to do so, the people with knowledge of his remarks said.

At least one donor who attended the event and listened to Mr. Schiff’s remarks said he left dejected, believing that Mr. Biden’s chances of winning were now slim and that they should concentrate giving their time and money to downballot candidates in the hopes of salvaging something for the party.

Mr. Biden’s campaign pointed to statements that it and the president’s allies had repeatedly made in recent days that he maintained strong support from members of Congress.

Only a relatively small number have publicly come out against Mr. Biden’s candidacy, the campaign said, noting support from members of groups like the Congressional Black Caucus.

Mr. Schiff rose to national prominence in 2019 as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee when he led the impeachment hearings against Mr. Trump for withholding aid to Ukraine.

The impeachment proceedings began after an intelligence community official seeking whistle-blower protections told lawmakers about a phone call Mr. Trump had with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine.

The original article contains 678 words, the summary contains 211 words. Saved 69%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

By acknowledging that Biden has absolutely no chance and needs to get the fuck over himself? If he actually cared about the country then he wouldn’t be so dogmatic. It is not solid fact that he can win or that it needs to be him. There are other people who can do the job.

Harris. Harris. Harris. Har-ris. Harris Harris. Harris.

Did you get it that time? Do people need to repeat it for you again? How many times will it take for you to acknowledge that you know who the other option is?

Do people need to say it in an accent for you? Or maybe spell it out in binary code? What will it take?

Edit: Looks like not acknowledged then. Jesus christ, it really is like talking to MAGA.

I don’t know a single person IRL who likes Harris more than Biden, during the 2020 primaries Biden was the milquetoast, too old candidate and Harris was actively hated for her history as a prosecutor. My grandfather is the only person I know who thought Harris was a smart VP choice. Biden at least gets some of the centrists and disaffected Republicans while losing the progressives, as a black woman Harris loses most of those, the progressives don’t like her, my black friends don’t like her because of the aforementioned prosecutor role, I just don’t know who her support base is except for you. Her campaign didn’t even do well enough to make it to the primaries, let alone compete. Bernie or Harris? I can see. Kamala I can’t

The polling says otherwise. Your anecdotal evidence doesn’t prove much.

Harris is polling better than Trump and Biden with independents, women and black voters, all the groups Biden is trying to get. Biden lost progressives because of his extreme stance on Gaza, which Harris distanced herself on.

Progressives are willing to compromise on Harris, no one is expecting Bernie Sanders to be the pick. Biden simply cannot win, he’s behind by multiple points in the majority of swing states and has made no attempts to moderate his dealings with the far-right Israeli government.

Harris is the only viable option that has a chance.

Does it really? I’ve seen one single poll, conducted by CNN just after the debate, with 1045 people reached by telephone that showed Harris doing 4% better with a 3.5% margin of error. The more recent polls I’ve seen that lead has disappeared again. If there are other polls, especially polls with better power, that prove your point I’d love to see them. I’m by no means a Biden fan, but I also don’t think Harris has a dependable edge.
