Sadly I think I’m finally ready to put Sync out to pasture since it isn’t maintained.
I have been enjoying Raccoon though development might have slowed down after a previous dev. left sometime back.
Boost is a good alternative.
Raccoon because raccoon.
On a more serious note. I have tried that one and Jerboa but I found Raccoon to be nicer, easier and more pleasant. Especially with all the colour costumizations.
I tried all. Finally settled in Eternity
Summit is peak Lemmy!
Awesome app, awesomer dev. If it doesn’t do what you want, talk to them and they’ll probably do it.
Not FOSS, but free and no ads.
Would not be enjoying Lemmy near as much without it thanks to all the great features like multi-community support and endless customization.
I’ve been using boost since that’s what I used for reddit. Just not been vibing with the lemmy version as much for some reason.
Decided to give summit a go after reading some comments here, and while I’ve only had the app for an hour or two I’m really happy with it so far
I’m glad that was helpful!
It looked great and I really wanted to stick with the dev on it once they originally announced they were going to make a Lemmy version, but even after a couple months going between it and some other apps, while it looked much the same as Boost for Reddit, it just didn’t feel the same.
Second Summit.
Summit holds practically the same quality as Sync for Reddit had… If not more at this point.
And yeah, the dev is great and very communicative, he must love his own project to be so active regarding it, and it makes sense I have tried the app since its conception and it has greatly improved.
I don’t want to bash other Lemmy clients… But I have tried nearly all of them and Summit always speaks “smoother” for me.
I agree, they definitely have to be passionate about it, and I feel it really shows. Truly shocked it never seems as popular as some others. I’ve given a number of bug reports and feedback/suggestions and they’ve all been addressed shockingly quick, and it’s fun to think this or that bit is there just because I agreed nicely. 😇
Yeah I get it, it definitely is not a competition, but if it is for the sake of sharing the love then yeah I agree that this client requires a higher user base 😁
I switched from Sync to Summit when I finally gave up on the sync dev ever doing anything more. Summit has frequent updates and fills the same spot for me as Sync, which is important to me as I used sync with reddit for a long time.
Yeah, it is not Sync, but it is just as good, and we can work with the dev to make it even better than what Sync was!
I love from Sync to Voyager and I’m quite happy with it.
Voyager
I was using Boost but noticed some missing features, so I switched to Raccoon. I like it so far
I did so last week, when the amount of posts where Sync wouldn’t show me the comments became annoying. I switched to Boost, and after some tinkering got it to a state where the UI was adequate for me.
I like Voyager
I like Jerboa, mainly because it doesn’t have ads.
Connect is the best in Android
I started with it and like it. Never thought to compare other options. Too busy trying to find a browser and search engine I like
It’s what I use, but I haven’t completed a comprehensive survey. It’s good enough I’m not looking for anything better.
I bounce between Voyager and Arctic. On iOS. Voyager on Android.
Thunder is my favourite. It’s an android app and I got it from F-Droid (Izzy on Droids Repo). Clean and customizable interface, convenient features like for example multi account support. I would recommend it!
Its lovely indeed
Too bad it can’t handle private messages apart from reading; you can’t even easily mark them as read. The interface is mostly excellent, though, and hey, I’m using it for this comment right now.
Was trying out Voyager and Thunder yesterday. Thunder seems like the winner to me. Voyager’s appearance isn’t customizable enough for my tastes. I am not a gesture person (I prefer to turn swipe actions for posts and comments off entirely) and really need more tappable things for Voyager to work for me.
One thing I would like in thunder is the ability to hide more of the interface when replying to comments. I have large thumbs and in landscape mode (which I type in exclusively) the button bar takes up a lot of space that could be better used for seeing my typed text and the comment I’m replying to.
Summit. I love the screenshot feature. I can pick content and share to my WA stories
Web App on iPhone.
