They have a ‘Hate America’ rally that’s scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall,” the House speaker, Mike Johnson, said on Fox News on Friday. “It’s all the pro-Hamas wing and, you know, the antifa people. They’re all coming out.”

On 18 October, tens of millions of people in the streets, peacefully exercising the democratic rights that the Trump regime is laboring to eliminate, will give the lie to Maga’s hallucinatory network of bomb-throwing traitors. No Kings will show America who the real haters are.

If I had my way it would be a “non violent to those that are non violent to us” protest.

If we were labeled as “violent treasonous” against a fascist state for that. Well, may history be our judge.

My criticism isn’t towards the right wing narrative. That is hopeless. My criticism is towards the “prove them wrong” crowd. You are not out their to defeat them in the “marketplace of ideas” that ship has sailed. You are there to make them afraid of our numbers. The numbers that have been lacking since the last time everyone “skipped brunch”.

I don’t want to be condescending. I was at the end of that last paragraph. It’s out of frustration on my part. But we are not trying to convince fascist that we are peaceful and “following the rules”. We are out there to make them fear our numbers! And we need those numbers more often.

I want to connect with all of the people ready to go “make their voice heard” tomorrow and hope that a small fraction will show up with us and make our numbers greater the following weekend. Because we’ve been out there since the last “no kings” day. Spending time and transport cost to hear the story of a very brave Palestinian women speaking in front of a crowd of 25 of us there to show support. Realizing that the momentum from the last “no kings” was very much lost.

We need you. We need you to connect with any group that weekly is organizing. Not just every several months. My advice is get working with DSA or PSL. Literally, anything. Join a book club if that’s all the risk you can take. But just do something MORE. Use tomorrow as a day to bring you further into organizing. Not just a day to make you feel like you did something and then wait until things get progressively worse until the next large protest.

We LOVE you out there with us tomorrow. Just pick one day between now and the next big event to come out. Find what’s comfortable for you to do. But don’t just wait for the next “big day”. Because you might be too afraid to next time.

Find comfort and safety in your community and comrades before that day comes. We need you more than just tomorrow.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been going to all the big ones, and each time I’ve gone, I’ve gotten one or two more people to come with me. Today my whole family is going to one in another state because we’ve been talking about it in our group chat. And I’ve got about 8 friends meeting me at the one in my town.

I went alone to the first protest I went to a year ago, now I have 10+ allies with me. They’re growing. To your point, it’s not fast enough, but I’m really inspired by how many people that did NOT give 1 single fuck a year ago, are making signs to march with me today

Trump has been signaling a false flag of sorts when he claimed that Biden put FBI agents in the January 6th “protests” (his word, not mine) and incited violence.
So I’m fully expecting violence, but not from the people there actually protesting.

It’s not even a group, but they know that. It’s literally just short hand for people that are anti fascism. Republicans aren’t that, so they have to demonize it to have an enemy.

    Prove them wrong

Yeah! We’ll beat today’s Nazis just like we did with the Nazis in WW2 - with sit-ins and angrily worded signs and… um… wait, how we beat the Nazis in WW2? Feels like I’m forgetting something important…

I hate that we are reduced to using nonsense baby-words like “maga” and “maha” to talk about the Confederates. They are not the least bit interested in making America great. Or healthy.

Maga is a nonsense word to me. I never sound the acronym out word by word in my head.

It’s just one more four letter word that is synonymous with hate.

H = healthy. Because the same ding-a-lings that think taking us back to the 1950s - or 1850s - will make us “great” also think Bobby Brainworm + Taco are going to take the country on a path to being healthy (again).

I wonder what time period they think we were the healthiest? When doctors were endorsing cigarette smoking? When we had lead in our gasoline and in our paint chips? How about when we had asbestos nearly everywhere? How about radium on our glow in the dark watches? When cars were unsafe at any speed?

I know Brainworm would rather we didn’t have vaccines and swims in sewage, so I’m not sure if he would rather take us back to the time when access to clean water was rather difficult, shall we say, and children died of diseases we have mostly confined to the history books except in rare cases, thanks to vaccines.

Donald doesn’t care if the protests are peaceful. He will just lie and say they’re violent. He’s been doing it for months now.

I’m not encouraging violence, but don’t let the fear of “seeming violent” keep you from going out. They’ll paint us as violent regardless.

I like what Portland has done with the silly costumes. Mock their seriousness.

There is violent treason in the streets of America … perpetrated by government sanctioned thugs in masks, no identification, unidentified cars and are actively kidnapping and arresting people without restriction

Lmfao, the Guardian shilling for Trump. Let’s keep it “ineffective” everyone. Let’s not get the right-wing scared or anything. Just lots of “thoughts and prayers and sassy signs and inflatable frog suits” let’s show them we won’t do a damn thing

My gut tells me it will be violent, let’s just hope the ones committing that violence have their court ordered body cams on.

Bodycams “don’t work” in all such cases.

The Breona Taylor case had the officers claim that there weren’t any bodycams present, but 1 of the pieces of evidence collected was the camera-head of a bodycam.

The ACLU has published on this, after a case where FIVE bodycams were claimed by police to not-work, in an incident where they were accused of crime.

Accountability never is allowed by authority, unless authority is coerced into accountability,

& that goes throughout ALL civilization, not just state-authority ( business bosses, institutions which mutilate rights from the lives subject to them, family-abuse even! it’s fundamental to abuse’s leveraging-more-authority-for-itself, & police-services simply happens to be 1 place where people committed to it gain extra-advantage from doing-so. )

I’m not sure what your point is. If I were a fascist government who wanted lawless police, I would like comments like yours and say “body cams don’t work so let’s get rid of them”.

I like how Meidas pointed out that little Mikey couldn’t even say the actual name of the rallies, since being against kings is kinda America’s brand identity.

This is the party that cannot even say the fucking name of the Democratic Party though, so…shrug. They’ve been saying it incorrectly for 70+ years because they are fucking children. Again, Murc’s Law - they are expected, to a one, even at the top of their party, to behave like brats, but the Democratic Party is expected to be the adults at all times. Just imagine if the Democratic Party started to say “Publican Party” at every opportunity, from the President all the way down to liberal talking heads, and no one were to question them about it?

man, that ‘democrat party’ bullshit is one of the very few digs that actually bugs me. and it’s been on for so long that i think there’s a whole generation that doesn’t know the actual name.

i tried ‘republic party’ for a while, but as you can see, i failed to make fetch happen.

It annoys me, too, and probably because it’s been going on for 70+ years (multi-generational at this point) and gets zero push back. From people that sure as hell know better and are in a position to ask why Republicans cannot use the right name. Just question it. Embarrass them. Keep asking why adult leaders in their party are being so childish - do they even know the right name?

It’s one thing if it’s people online goofing or people on the street, whatever. I do it quite frequently and come up with nicknames for the opposition. But I’m not a politician and I’m not a talking head. I have no platform and no power and no prominence.

How an entire party can get away with it and have zero commentary on it in any meaningful way is really wild.
