While preliminary reports of the NFL show’s ratings indicate Bad Bunny drew the most live viewers of any Super Bowl halftime show in history, according to CBS News, with over 135 million, Turning Points USA, the late Charlie Kirk’s organization, celebrated just 6 million viewers across its various channels on Sunday night.

Why is he still called “Kid” Rock anyway? Isn’t he 55, looking like he’s 75? He’s Old Man Rock now.
The only kid thing about him is his dress sense, but I recently saw a photo of him in a hat that actually fit, and yes, he’s an old man now.
I grew up in a strict Christian family. I would bet that every single one of the kids forced to watch the Kid Rock special watched Bad Bunny once they were away from their parents. Even if they didn’t like Bad Bunny before, or after, it would have convinced them that it was something that they should see.
I guess that makes him Kid Gravel.

I don’t know anyone that can name a kid rock song. The entire planet is having parties listening to all type of great music and americans conservative are stuck with this loser lol.
There was Bawitdaba in 1999, and the song that I always think is going to be Werewolves of London and get mad when it isn’t. That’s all I know.

Anyone who listened to rock radio in the year 2000 would recognize it. Hit Billboard’s top 10, 41 and 32 in the UK and Scotland, it even did decently in Germany peaking at 84 per GfK. None of this is to say that it’s particularly good but it damn well was popular. (And looking this up I am reminded that the second hit on that album was “Cowboy” which also did numbers in the US and Europe)
He had a solid run on TRL. I’m ashamed to admit I know more than one of his songs as a result. And I even liked it. Middle School is a helluva drug.
The crazy thing is he used to be a socially progressive guy for years before he drank the maga flavor aide.

The “All American Halftime Show” headliner, on the other hand, came under fire last week when his sexualized comments about the then-14-year-old Olsen twins resurfaced, as well as the gross 2001 lyrics from his song “Cool, Daddy, Cool,” in which he sings, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ’em underage, see,” and “Some say that’s statutory, but I say it’s mandatory.”

What made the halftime show so great was that it was a celebration of something Bad Bunny actually cared about. He cared enough to want to share with you the lovely little things about his culture that make it special.
I don’t know what Kid Rock loves or cares about or wants to share (I actually have one idea but it’s gross). I do know what he hates. Nobody wants to hang out with an asshole I’d much rather go for good vibes with a language barrier.

While I am not a big fan of the music style, I thought the visuals and dancing were incredible. I was just awestruck at the level of prep the must have put in to get that performance to that level. They had street scenes, rural scenes, all at the same time and live. It all flowed so well, I thought it was such an incredible performance without actually being a fan of the music genre. That to me is the mark of an amazing performance.
Kid Rock is a talentless nobody. The only thing I remember him for is “All Summer Long,” & that beat of the song was plagiarized from “Werewolves of London” by Warren Zevon & “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Kid rock needs to change his stage name. I watched a 30sec cut of their show. And woof. That dude is aging like milk. Looks 70.

I’d much rather listen to songs in Spanish (a language I don’t understand) than any song about how great Kid Rock thinks he is and all of his songs are about that.

For what it’s worth, I’m a native Spanish speaker and can barely understand Bad Bunny sometimes. It’s the Puerto Rican accent, they don’t pronounce the letter S

I didn’t understand a word he said, but it was still a good show. Hell of a lot better than the game itself.
I don’t understand Spanish, but i understood perfectly the visuals, the historical context, the love, acceptance, and the message.
It was superb; one of the best I’ve seen. With reverence to Prince, ofc.
Knowing the language isn’t necessary for enjoying the music, in my opinion. There’s plenty of “world music” (music outside my own country/language) that is just that. And I’m finding I like it more and more!
Here’s a great example I found over the years. There is a song in the US called “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. It’s alright, but the original version is from Africa. “Mbube” is the African name of the song. The versions I have heard are so much better than the English language version. The ones I know of are by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Miriam Makeba.
Finally picked up on it when I looked up the intro music to Coming to America!
Gran Turismo actually has introduced me to a TON of great world music.
Another example that might be good is Baba Yetu, the Grammy-winning theme song from the game Civilization 4. Its lyrics are probably better known to people as the Lord’s Prayer, just translated into Swahili.

Every single person I watched the Super Bowl with has also gone to the protests with me.
Asking your Average Joe American to fire up the old idiot box to watch bad bunny, likely already up and running for the game, is an infinitely easier ask than risk your job and possibly your life to fight fascists in the streets.
I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment, but maybe dial in the perspective a bit. Those Italians have been fighting fascism at home for a very long time, it’s not like the blood fueds simply ended with the death of Mussolini.

There’s no reason to legitimize the conservative “counter” to halftime with this comparison. It’s the same thing that Fox News did to legitimize wacko conservative beliefs starting in the 90s. Presenting fringe elements directly in comparison to legitimate ones only bleeds legitimacy onto the fringe.

Right. Super Bowl is about money, and right now Bad Bunny means more money. It’s not a protest, and Trump acting displeased is not because he was caught off-guard, he’s doing what his base is expecting of him.
All this likely was negotiated behind curtains weeks before, and Trump was surely well informed by his team. Just another performance that maximizes profit.
