You laugh, but…

Oh god, that’s horrible!

Please NSFW or spoiler… that’s gnarly.
Ah, sorry. Is there coding to mark comments as NSFW, or do you mean applying the Spoiler coding to comments?

Don’t be a baby
some people see body images and feel them. don’t denigrate them.
That’s a 1 isn’t it?
Naturally
It is, and they’re lucky it’s only 1 damagetoo. NPC’s don’t have a very large HD pool after all.
D4s are annoying. They’re the only die without a top face, so it’s hard to read the number, and since the faces slant inwards it can be hard to pick them up.
On the other hand, it’s satisfying that the typical RPG dice contain the 5 platonic solids. If I had to play a game where a D4 was used often (unlike in say D&D where it’s rare), I’d probably go with one of the alternate D4 shapes. Even if you prefer platonic solids, you can just use an 8-sided die and renumber 5-8 as being 1-4 again.
D4 with a top face:

i like the ones with a bottom face personally, but that might be because my first d4 was that way
Do you need a microscope?
So is there a war between the number on top and the number on bottom d4?
Picture I made for this thread a few months ago:

Unfortunately we’re still stuck with caltrops as the standard d4 shape when so many better options exist
There are not too many choices if you are a fan of platonic solids
Platonic solids exclude the Rhombic Dodecahedron, so who needs them?
better options exist
Standardising on D6 only?

That’s a really shitty d12

How would this work?
I mean you could use a d8 with duplicate 1-4 numbers.
Or a d12 with 1-4 three times, which is what I use for my d4s
The original d20s doubled as d10s. They came uninked and you were instructed to use two different colored markers to mark one set of 1-0 one color and then second set a different color.

Rejig everything so it’s so multiples of 6.
Warhammer moved from D3, D4, D6, D8, D10, D12 and D20 to just D6 (and D3 from D6) You need a lot of D6, but they’re ubiquitous.
Wouldn’t that change the probabilty curve? I guess it could be nice if you wanted to limit critical success and failure but it might reduce the sense of randomness.
That’s actually a tough choice, I like having a variety of shapes for my click clacks but I despise the caltrop d4
Or the real life prismatic spray if you throw them really hard at someone’s face and eyes. If two of them land into the persons sight globes point first, it will cause blindness.
